According to Cantonal law dated 1970, the mission of the Cantonal Office for the Protection of Cultural Property is to:
The PBC office participates in the construction of shelters for the cultural property. Today, 21 PBC shelters, including the cantonal shelter of Lucens, have been built, representing a volume of over 15,000 m3. Federal and cantonal subsidies can be solicited for any protective measures for property classified in the federal inventory (inventories, microfilms, shelter construction or specific material/equipment).
The Cantonal Office participates in the elaboration of classes organized by the protection of the population for the PBC specialists. The follow-up in the regions during the annual periods is also assured by the PBC Office. The continuation and remainder of the inventory of movable property is the main mission of the PBC specialists incorporated into the protection of the population. It is also their mission to elaborate intervention and evacuation plans for the property in case of disaster.
