COSADOCA, an original approach and in the making…

Launched by the Vaud Cantonal Archives on March 23rd, 2004, the Consortium for the Preservation of Documentary Patrimony in case of Disaster (COSADOCA) arises from an agreement (Agreement and regulations, PDF file) concluded between:

• the Vaud Cantonal Archives
• the Cantonal University Library (Dorigny location)
• the Main Library of the Ecole polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL)
• EPFL and the University of Lausanne

Its objective is the implementation of an inter-institutional collaboration for the rescue of documentary patrimony in case of disaster at the western Lausanne locations (Dorigny and EPFL).

Beyond the mutualisation of the material resources, COSADOCA provides a common discussion board for public institutions, whose partial or total closure in case of natural damages and disasters would bring harm to the proper functioning of the educational networks. It offers the opportunity to voice opinions in front of the authorities and to value the conservation and patrimonial missions as well as the spreading of knowledge to related institutions.

The COSADOCA is also an organ of practical and technical information for any institution confronted with a small or large disaster.
